Innovation and Interoperability at Scale for Every Size District

In the past five years we have seen large and medium size districts implement one-on-one environments and build ecosystems by developing processes to implement interoperability standards. The main challenges we face are to manage change effectively and to ensure that all districts, no matter what size, are able to successfully create the digital learning ecosystems they need. In this session, we will discuss two well-known district implementations, Houston ISD's PowerUp and Escambia County's more recent implementation of a learning ecosystem and their change management strategies. The presenters will cross-reference them to a Framework for School Change based on the work of Shawn Rubin and Cathy Sanford. Towards the end of the session, we will facilitate a participatory discussion to identify strategies that medium and smaller districts can adopt to innovate successfully.
