A competency-based learning program will share their experience leveraging open standards to bring together disparate systems to implement a well-rounded ecosystem encompassing assessment, training materials, instruction, and credentialing. They will provide an overview of how the transition from paper-and-pencil or closed-systems has progressed and will outline strategies, challenges, and lessons learned along the way, working with various providers and product lines to build toward a comprehensive, standards-based ecosystem for competency-based learning programs. We will discuss the IMS standards used (QTI, LTI), provide demonstrations and discuss future plans for expanding the open ecosystem from capturing learning events with Caliper to linking assessment and learning content with CASE and recognizing achievements with Open Badges.
