2019 Learning Impact Leadership Institute

Through multiple learning analytics projects focused on student use of digital tools, UMBC is now able to predict with a high degree of confidence who will earn a C or higher final grade across a variety of course disciplines, even as early as week 4 of a 15-week term. We've now turned our attention to behavioral, empathetic nudges of potentially disengaged students to encourage them to take more responsibility for their own learning. This presentation will summarize our predictive analytics initiatives, including findings combining LMS, eTextbook and other digital tools. We will also share impact findings of our related nudges, and discuss how analytics can inform a scalable approach to institutional student success and course design.
